D'you know what i mean is an oasis song from their third studio album be here now which came out in 1997 this song was released as a single on the 7th of July 1997, the song as 90 per cent of their song are was written by Noel Gallagher, is another one of my favourite songs by one of my favourite bands. The video features the band performing on the top of a bombed out building whilst a military watch on, the beginning of the video features the band jumping out of a helicopter to get to the building, again this is another video where the lyrics and video together don't really make sense. It was the first single onto this album, the song reached number 1 in the uk single chart, the third oasis song to do this, oasis are very decorated when it comes to number 1s. The song also reached number 1 in Ireland, Finland and Spain, whilst also reaching the top 5 in Canada, Norway, Sweden and New Zealand. The song sold 162,000 in the first day in shops and 370,000 within the first week making it Oasis biggest selling single in the UK with sales of 745,000 it reached platinum in the process, it was the 12th best selling single in the UK in 1997, in October 2011 the NME placed it at 77 on its list of the top 150 songs of the past 15 years, the song was re-released in october 2016 celebrating 20 years of the album be here now, the song was produced by Noel Gallagher and Owen Morris, it was recorded from November 1996 till April 1997, the record label as for every album prior to this one was Alan McGee's Creation records, one of the most important people in Oasis' career.
The video was produced by Dom and Nic an award winning music video directing company, the video is set in an  post-apocalyptic world in the video several helicopters land as the fly past the band whilst they are playing. The video was filmed at beckton gas works in London, which was a major gas works built to manufacture coal gas , it has been used alot for filming including James Bond and several other films and music videos.

I would say the target audience for this music video of course primarily would be fans of Oasis, although the band themselves would say 'we don't care about reaching out to anyone else' I would say they really are looking to reach a wider audience with this video because the video is very different compared to other Oasis music videos and certainly one to get people talking it looks like a scene from a movie, in my opinion its a great music video. It would probably be big across the U.K and potentially bring in a wider audience.

Lyrics

Step off the train all alone at dawn
Back into the hole where I was born
The sun in the sky never raised an eye to me
The blood on the tracks, and they must be mine
The fool on the hill, and I feel fine
Don't look back 'cause you know what you might see
Look into the wall of my mind's eye
I think I know, but I don't know why
The questions are the answers you might need
Coming in a mess, going out in style
I ain't good-looking, but I'm someone's child
No one can give me the air that's mine to breathe
I met my maker
I made him cry
And on my shoulder he asked me why
His people won't fly through the storm
I said listen up man, they don't even know you're born
All my people right here, right now
D'you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah
All my people right here, right now
D'you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah
All my people right here, right now
D'you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I don't really care for what you believe
So open up your fist or you won't receive
The thoughts and the words of every man you'll need
Get up off the floor and believe in life
No one's ever gonna ever ask you twice
Get on the bus and bring it on home to me
I met my maker
I made him cry
And on my shoulder he asked me why
His people won't fly through the storm
I said "Listen up man, they don't even know you're born"
All my people right here, right now
They know what I mean yeah, yeah
All my people right here, right now
They know what I mean yeah, yeah
All my people right here, right now
They know what I mean yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
All my people right here, right now
D'you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah
All my people right here, right now
D'you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah
All my people right here, right now
D'you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah

  1. Hi Joe
reasonably good start - you will need to add a lot more information though as I need to know about director, costings, screen shots with analysis of these your favourite five videos.

You tell me as much as possible in relation to mis en scene and shot types please.
It needs to all be up before lesson on Friday .

All of this adds up to an excellent response and will aid you in creating your own summer video.

    1. • A little better Joe, but still work on layout as well as content - draw the audience in. Do a voice over and 'say what you have written.'

      • Your content is blocky and needs to be in paragraphs please.

      • I not i.

      • Most importantly why do you like these videos, why have you chosen them - it is all about your opinion in them JOe. That is the key.

      • A little better Joe. Level 2 response so far.

Do the following to make it better:

      • Look at your structure and layout of the posts, you want to entice people to read it and engage the audience .

      • Your use of english needs developing as it is basic at the moment so please reread your comments and you will understand - change and make sure it flows.

      • I have listed all of the areas you need to discuss on teh master blog - please refer to that - mis en scene, lighting, screen shots, cost, context etc.

      • You talk about random scenes but you do not show enough stills, therefore place 6 screenshots next to each other or 3 x 3 so the audience can see instantly.

      • Structure is very much a part of your work too.

I will check again later to see how it is developing - I will look at your other posts now too.
